Rabbi David Kadoch
Rabbi David Kadoch was born in Toronto, Ontario to Marc and Judy Kadoch. He is a graduate of Or HaEmet Sephardic School, the local Sephardic school in the city, and then continued his studies in Yeshivat Ner Yisrael in Toronto. Following secondary school, Rabbi Kadoch spent two years in Jerusalem attending Yeshivat Mikdash Melech where he expanded his knowledge of Torah and halacha. In the midst of attending Teachers College at York University, he attained semicha (rabbinical ordination) from Yeshivat Pirchei Shoshanim under the leadership and auspices of Rabbi David Ostroff and Rabbi Daniel Chanan in Jerusalem.
With a dream to teach Torah in his foresight, Rabbi Kadoch graduated York University with a Masters Degree in Education and an Honours in Religious Studies. He went on to teach for three years at Or HaEmet Sephardic School and currently is the Rav Bet HaSefer at Netivot HaTorah Day School in Thornhill.
One of his greatest passions has been singing and learning traditional Sephardic melodies, which make Moroccan Judaism so precious. Since 2008, Rabbi Kadoch has been employed as Hazan of Abir Yaakob Congregation holding the vital position to ensure our prayers reach the heavens.
On January 1st, 2019, Rabbi Kadoch became the Rabbi of the Sephardic Kehila Centre, taking over for Hacham Amram Assayag, Rabbi Emeritus. While filling the void left by Hacham Assayag is a daunting task, Rabbi Kadoch's passion for Torah, programming, and public speaking is sure to complement his exceptional rapport with the members of Abir Yaakob.
